Day 3

Day 3 was a special day where we spent some time playing together! We headed to the work sites for half a day and then headed back to church for a hot lunch. The kitchen crew treated the team to a lunch of sloppy joes as a break from the sandwiches from the week. After lunch, we headed to the Hartselle Aquatic Center where we swam the afternoon away!

Wednesday night's worship experience was powerful. The Holy Spirit showed up in a MIGHTY way. Many young lives were devoted to Christ or recommitted to Christ during the altar call. Worship lasted late into the night with singing, hugging, and tears of joy as the youth stood up one by one exclaiming how Christ changed their life that evening.

Day 2 Video!

Day 2

Day 2 was a day full of hard work, lots of fun, fellowship and some amazing worship.

"Peaches" continued on their wheelchair ramp and then decided to head out in the neighborhood to see what other help they could provide.  Abby Keller and a few others found a homeowner that was interested in having their house painted.  This team start scraping the house right away to prep it for a fresh coat of paint.

"Y.I.E.L.D" and "All Good, All His, All In" continued painting at the Boys and Girls club.  The entire gym is almost completed as the entire team worked together, whether it meant cutting with a paintbrush or climbing high scaffolding to use a spray gun.  These teams were also given the opportunity to eat lunch with the kiddos at the Boys and Girls club and continue to build relationships with them.  The kitchen team surprised this site today with popsicles for Covenant's group and all the Boys and Girls club kiddos to enjoy.

"God's Special Misfits" continued their hard work on Thomas' house to replace the bathroom and mud room floor.  This team also took some extra time to help Thomas pick out his new flooring that they will install the rest of the week.

Our evening was filled with amazing dinner created by our food team that holds nothing back when serving the mission team.  We played Knock-Out, played on the playground, and fellow-shipped all evening.  Our evening ended with worship led by our worship team and a powerful message of Truth.  We truly feel the prayers and the Holy Spirit moving here in Decatur.  Please continue to pray for us as we serve the rest of the week.

Day 1

We started Day 1 with worship, devotional time, and breakfast! This will be our morning routine throughout the week.  We encourage you to follow along with our devotionals (they are located on the tab at the top of the screen).

We spent the morning getting trucks and trailers loaded up and then headed out to the worksites.

"All Good, All His, All In" and "Y.I.E.L.D." started their first day at the Boys and Girls Club of Decatur.  The team started right away prepping their gymnasium for a fresh coat of paint.  Scaffolding was assembled and tarps placed on the floor.  Eager hearts and hands worked together as they got ready for the big job ahead of them.

This team also got the chance to listen to a speaker that came to speak to the kiddos that frequent the Boys and Girls Club on the power of goals and making the right choices.  These family groups have been gifted a great opportunity to serve as well as build relationships with the local kiddos and community members that will be present at this site all week.

"Tom Tom GPS" and "God's Special Misfits" started their week at Thomas Foster's home, the director of the Boys and Girls Club of Decatur.  The Covenant mission team also worked at this site last year.

This team is staining the front deck of the house.  They also spent their morning ripping out the bathroom floor and prepping to put in new flooring.  They have a big task at hand, but were all so positive and willing to do what they had to do to get started today.

These groups will also be ripping out the mudroom flooring and putting in new flooring in that part of the house.

"Peaches" is working at Bernice Cook's house building a wheelchair ramp.  This group was hard at work today framing, building, and weeding.

Lots of teamwork took place as boards were cut, nailed and screwed. And the initiative of this family group was evident as they did yard work and even washed a car.

And on a hot, hard-working day, there's always time for a little ice cream treat!
